Cancún turns four decades as a tourist destination

Built on a secluded beach language, Cancun is four decades as a tourist destination in the Caribbean. Today the city is visited by some four million tourists each year. The city has more than 29,000 hotel rooms and there are several new construction projects in so-called "third phase".  It is recalled that the Mexican authorities ended last February, the landfill operation to restore the sandy beaches of Cancun, deteriorated after the 2005 hurricanes. The project has required an investment of 52 million euros.  A promotional video of the Cancun tourist office shows the valuation of tourists about restoring the beaches.

The Cancun area is now the main tourist destination in Mexico and one of the main sources of foreign exchange, was a wild territory composed of a dune in the form of seven separate from the mainland by a lagoon system. Here they settled Mayan groups who traded before the conquest through sea routes. "Cancun," which in the Mayan language means pot or nest of snakes, has its origins in 1968 when the Central Bank of Mexico was given the task of finding an ideal place to build a new tourist destination fully planned, following the success of Acapulco in the Pacific.  In addition, after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the American tourist market was left without one of its main beach destinations, thus enhancing the need for a new hotel center in the Caribbean.  The white sandy beaches and warm turquoise waters of Cancun convinced the Mexican authorities in 1970 work began with the blessing of President Gustavo Diaz Ordaz (1964-1970).

New cancun hotels projects

The city has more than 29,000 hotel rooms. The Spanish expert Tejera Pedro Antonio Reyes, a former member of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), told Efe said the authorities should prevent the occurrence of an over density of hotel rooms in Cancun, home to 700,000 people.  "We must avoid, for wanting to raise the number of tourists, we have to make more beds than necessary, since there are currently 188 new scheduled destinations in the world," said Tejera. Today Cancun has become the first Caribbean resort, beating Bahamas and Puerto Rico, according to the Office of Tourism and Conventions Cancun.

Organize a trip on the Internet: Vacation Network

Organizing an Internet travel is travel the world twice. The itinerary for the websites that speak of the country to be visited may even be as exciting as the journey itself. Internet are reflected in all the sounds and images of the planet and is as easy access to information of the people next door as that of Australia or Antarctica. There are only two problems: not everyone has a computer connected to the Internet and, worse, a large majority of the information is in English. The first problem can be solved by going to Internet cafes that abound in the Spanish streets, or by using the pen pals. The second is more difficult to fix, but there are programs web page translation into Castilian (http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com/cgi-bin/translate?). The major search engines in Castilian, Ole and Ozú include specific sections of travel and tourism. On Olé, the sites are classified by countries (Spain and Latin America) and the type of information you are looking for (accommodation, transport or maps). Ozú has specific sections of travel agencies, hotels, cities, festivals, folklore, routes and rural tourism. Another possibility is to use the Castilian edition of the Lycos search engine

If you know English, the adventure can be mammoth dimensions. By introducing the word of a destination one of the major browsers (http://www.yahoo.com) or (http://www.altavista.digital.com), the traveler will find a composite response thousands and thousands of pages. To sort the tourist sites have been set up tourist resource directories on the Internet. They are authentic online travel agencies that sell tickets and book hotel rooms. City.net is one of them, the most traditional. Other options include Travelocity and, above all, Microsoft's Expedia. But there are other sites on travel directories
(Http://www.yahoo.com/recreation/travel) or
(Http:// www.search-beat.com/travel.htm).

Maps a la carte.

More fun is, without doubt, find websites through maps. Mapquest permits which can be navigated with the mouse an interactive world map until you reach the street in many cities worldwide. Armed with maps, and basic information about a country, the surfer can go to a travel agency to purchase electronic tickets and make hotel reservations. Almost all airlines sell their tickets through the network. Among the exceptions, they have only sold Iberia Business class tickets online, and Spanair announcing deals that can be purchased by phone. But the German company Lufthansa, for example, often make offers tickets at very cheap prices and only announced on the network.

Train and hitchhiking across the network.

Another possibility, especially if you are traveling to Australia or America, is to visit a virtual local guides. The best known part of Microsoft and has listings of all cultural activities, dining or recreation that can be practiced in major U.S. cities. The Globetrotters Guide in French also has extensive information on various cities around the world, particularly Europe. Those who prefer the train can also use the Internet. Railway station provides access all the schedules and plans to offer online bookings after the summer (a date a little unusual to start a service of this kind). The French railways and reserve tickets over the Internet. And, of course, the bus has its rail network, courtesy of Eurolines, which offers routes throughout Europe at affordable prices. Nor is absent from the Internet hitchhiking, whose common are grouped in a French site. With the ticket in his pocket and prepared the case, one can only reserve the accommodation. The range of possibilities is enormous. From the campsite, to hotels, timeshare through.

Clothing, time and money exchange on the Internet.

Dress the problem is solved by visiting any of the websites with maps and weather forecasts. The most interesting are the American Weather Channel Weather Channel and a Spanish collection of various images of Meteosat and weather forecasts for several countries. The issue does not require money to the bank. The most effective is to visit the Travel section of the CNN website that, among other things, is a powerful tool for converting currencies from nearly every country in the world. After vaccination, it is advisable to visit the official sites of the various countries (http://www.mbnet.mb.ca/lucas/travel), it should also ensure that the place is going to visit a war does not suffer (international information from the CIA). The only hurdle that remains is, finally, language preparation of the trip. Before buying a dictionary, it may be to visit the website of languages (http://www.travlang.com/languages), which has translators of the most useful words in 60 languages worldwide.

One of the more interesting possibilities provided by travel sites is the exchange of experiences with other travelers. The Globetrotters Guide, for example, to send anecdotes (also sound), advertisements and even photos of the trip, which are placed on the web for anyone to consult. There are also many personal websites where the authors have placed their exotic travel experiences. Sometimes it is Everesty other expeditions to Antarctica. But no one has gone as far as the surfer who travels the world with a digital camera and a laptop and put their daily experiences and photos on a website (http://www.travelog.net). Also
You can arrange trips to the mountain on the Internet. A French site is the ideal tool to prepare a holiday full of caving, mountaineering and trekking. And who wants to travel and at the same time, do some social activity has the possibility of going to a labor camp. In http://www.ecovolunteer.org address, you can go to learn how fields that are working to reintroduce the wild horse in the steppes of Mongolia or to rescue chimpanzees in Sierra Leone.
